DRY NEEDLING
Release muscle tension and relieve pain.
Dry needling is a powerful technique that targets pain at its source. By precisely inserting thin needles into trigger points, it can help relax muscle tension, reduce discomfort, and restore healthy mobility and function. If you suffer from pain, limited range of motion, or reduced muscle strength, dry needling at Chee Dynamic can provide lasting relief.
How does dry needling work?
A specialized manual therapy that targets myofascial pain and dysfunction, dry needling releases muscle knots by inserting acupuncture needles into trigger points. Rooted in Western medicine, it can treat acute or chronic pain conditions, restore range of motion and muscle strength, and dramatically improve your quality of life.
Why should you do it?
Dry needling is a minimally invasive tool for treating pain and improving muscle function without the negative side effects of medication or other treatments. If you are struggling with chronic myofascial pain or acute dysfunction, dry needling may be a beneficial option for you. Here are some of the things that dry needling can address:
Neck and back pain
Sports injuries
Post-surgical recovery
Headaches and migraines
Myofascial pain
Hip and sciatica pain
Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
Rotator cuff and shoulder injuries
Dry needling sessions at Chee Dynamic also include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and cupping to support your overall well-being. This comprehensive care approach will help you heal faster and stay healthier longer.
What can you expect during a dry needling appointment?
Dr. Karin will first get to know you, your symptoms, your medical history—and then talk about your goals. What do you want to achieve? What have you already tried in terms of treatments and medications? Have you tried dry needling before? If so, what was your experience? If not, are you anxious about the procedure?
After learning about your needs, and your desired results, Dr. Karin will customize a plan for you. Here’s what you can expect:
A physical examination. We need to look more closely at where you’re hurting, or where you want improvement. Dr. Karin will examine the areas where you are feeling pain using palpation to assess the extent of the muscle tightness and to identify the right trigger points.
Dry needling. Once the trigger points are identified, thin, sterilized needles will be inserted into these points until they release. This may cause brief discomfort similar to a muscle spasm or cramp.
Holistic support. After treating the trigger points, Dr. Karin will insert other acupuncture needles for holistic support and healing. These needles will remain in place for 15-20 minutes while you relax.
Post-treatment discussion. We’ll talk about how you feel, your custom treatment plan, and any exercises or follow-up actions for you to take. Don’t hesitate to ask questions!
